Fishing Report and forecast for the Tampa Bay and Saint Petersburg Area
4-16-2009
Wind continues to be problematic on the Southshore of Tampa Bay. However the snook continue to feed well. Redfish did make a good appearance on the eastern side of Tampa Bay early this week during high water times.. My trips this past week have produced good catches of snook, and redfish
Friday and Monday trips produced lots of snook and redfish fishing the area from Piney Point north to the Little Manatee river. Our biggest snook measured 31 inches and our largest redfish went 29 inches.
On Thursday we landed a big snook just to the south of Piney Point Creek. This snook went 34 inches plus.
This last cold front did not bother us to much except for the wind and making bait a little hard to get but I think this will be short lived.
Water temperatures are in the mid seventies and rising. The white bait has moved up on the flats on the Southshore area of Tampa bay. Look for diving birds.
Be safe out there.
